Whats-SUP?
Ok, so I can’t take credit for the name because that was The Beard’s suggestion but I’m so excited to introduce you all to Quaver… she’s floaty light and big and yellow and brings me so much joy it’s unreal!
After having my first SUP (stand up paddleboarding) lessons in 2016 and countless times hiring boards out in various locations, I finally thought ‘f*ck it!’ and boshed this investment on my credit card. Thinking back to all the times I’d hired a board I probably could have saved a fair whack towards one and maybe I should have saved more… but let’s be honest… we all know my pennies go on snacks and trips so that was never going to happen!
Buying my own board wasn’t a panic or snap decision, I’d been researching boards for yonks and after chatting to Anna (SUPer Whale) about which types of board were best, what would last me, which would suit me and our adventures and of course which brands had yellow boards (v.important), I settled on a Naish One Air Nisco. She’s a beast at 12ft 6 but came with everything I needed to just pump her up and go!
I’ve had her a couple of weeks now and have already been out in Cambridge twice and enjoyed some SUPer early mornings on Coniston Water during our anniversary weekend away (more on that in the monthly round up!) The #hellosunshineSUP hashtag over on Instagram has been seeing some more action lately and unfortunately is does mean I’ve been subjecting anyone who follows to some terrible SUP puns….
Anywho, if you’d like to follow along (or even better want to go for a paddle around Cambridge or anywhere for that matter) feel free to keep an eye on the #hellosunshineSUP tag… even if it’s just to know when to stay clear of the waters!
