TWO YEARS LATER

Well, the c-word finally got me! 🦠

I mean, I guess I was starting to feel left out after avoiding it for two years. To be honest, I’m quite surprised I managed to dodge Covid for so long. I was a bit worried I may have had it without knowing, and just been out there risking passing it on to other people.

However, after this last week, there’s no doubt because I’ve felt horrendous and certainly know it’s hit me!

It started as a bit of a cough and snotty nose but I was testing negative for a few days so I thought it was just a cold and I’d be OK. On Saturday though I was starting to feel feverish and got myself a BIG FAT POSITIVE. BUGGER.

Honestly, I think I’ve been quite lucky with symptoms as it’s felt a lot like a bad head cold most of the time. There have been moments, when I stand up to quickly or after trying to concentrate for a long time, when I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus but nothing a few painkillers and a nap doesn’t put right. Speaking of napping, I have slept for England this week too - I never knew I could lie still for so long so my body must have needed it!

It’s day 6 of positive tests now and I’ll be honest, I’m starting to get a bit twitchy about cancelled plans and the unknown of how many more things I may need to postpone. I’m incredibly grateful for being able to take early morning walks with Rei to get some fresh air and hiding from neighbours in bushes or quickly diverting my routes has been quite fun! But boy am I missing the day to day routines things like nipping to the shop, going to the gym, grabbing a coffee and my usual workout classes.

I’ve still managed to get some* work done, which has been a nice distraction… well, as ‘nice’ as getting on top of accounts, email and marketing admin can be. It has been a big struggle though, as my concentration levels and focus has gone out of the window - like I’m in a daze or drunk, which is ironic right now as I’ve pretty much stopped drinking altogether - ha!

Anywho, I didn’t come here to whine, I actually thought it would be interesting to document how it feels… you know after two years of dodging the thing, bouncing in and out of lockdowns and essentially living a different life since the pandemic hit. Fingers crossed the headaches subside, the brain fog lifts and my tests start coming up negative soon!

Like I said earlier, I believe I’ve been lucky with the symptoms compared to others who have been hit by it or are still dealing with the after effects of the virus. I guess it’s a strong reminder that we still need to be careful and look out for each other as Covid isn’t going anywhere and it can (and will!) knock you for six.

Stay safe and look after yourselves, folks!
